About Smokeball
With offices in Australia, the US, and the UK, Smokeball is a global leader in legal practice management software, proudly supporting small and mid-sized legal practices to run their best firm and live their best life. We’re passionate about what we do, and our clients know it!
Our collaborative culture and strong sense of purpose are the driving forces behind our success.
Role Overview
We’re on the lookout for a Legal Billing Training Specialist who has done their time in the law firm finance world, but here’s the twist: this time, you won’t be doing the work, you’ll be teaching others how to master it!
You’ll be supporting the law firms that use Smokeball every day, guiding them through systems, and sharing your hard-earned expertise to help them shine. We want someone who’s genuinely passionate about helping clients get the most out of Smokeball and who’s excited to join a vibrant, client-obsessed community of legal and tech pros.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, tailored software training (primarily remote, with occasional onsite visits) to ensure clients gain maximum value from the platform
- Guide new firms through onboarding, including setup of finance processes and ensuring balances reconcile following data migration
- Respond to client requests for training and product guidance, providing clear, practical support
- Partner with small law firms to understand their workflows, advise on best practices, and problem solve where needed
- Build strong client relationships and contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction in every interaction
- Create scalable support resources, including how‑to videos, guides, and knowledge base content
- Enable internal and partner expertise by delivering product training to colleagues and external stakeholders
- Act as a voice of the customer, sharing insights, identifying pain points, and contributing to continuous improvement of the product and client experience
- Contribute to a fast‑paced, growing environment where technology and innovation drive client outcomes
What we are looking for:
- Advanced understanding of legal billing practices
- Understanding of legal financial audits and reporting requirements
- Understanding of General Accounts systems, preferably Xero
- Training expertise or learning and development experience, ideally in software user training and onboarding
- A working understanding of human learning models and innate learning behaviours

- If you’re someone who thrives on empowering clients and shaping meaningful experiences, we’d love to have you on our team.
