Teaching Assistant - Early Years

A friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brockley is looking to appoint a committed Learning Support and Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) . This role is available for immediate start as well as for September , offering flexibility for the right candidate.

The successful teaching assistant will work closely with the class teacher to provide both general classroom support and targeted one-to-one or small group support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) .

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting children in EYFS with a range of learning and developmental needs

• Assisting with classroom activities, play-based learning, and structured interventions

• Delivering individualised support to pupils with SEN

• Promoting social development and emotional well-being

• Collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals

The ideal teaching assistant will have:

• Previous experience working in a primary school, ideally within Early Years

• A good understanding of SEN and how to support children with additional needs

• A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development

This is a full-time opportunity within a welcoming school that values support staff as key members of the team. Both ASAP and September start dates are available.
