Rotananny

A rota position has opened with one of our best London families based in North Kensington/Notting Hill. This warm, international household is seeking a professional, fun and responsible nanny who is completely fluent in German to care for their two young children, a girl aged 2 (starting nursery part-time in September) and a boy aged 4 (in full-time school). The family would also like someone with baby experience as they plan to have a third child in the future. They are looking for a nanny who will stay long term and become part of their family.

The role is a rota position of two weeks on, two weeks off. In London, hours are 7am to 7pm. When the family travel, or on occasions when both parents are away, 24-hour cover will be required. Travel is a regular part of the position, with summers spent in the Hamptons and time also spent in southern France and Bavaria. When abroad, the rota may stretch to three weeks on/off, with travel arrangements covered by the family. It is important that the nanny lives in or within a short commute of North Kensington when on duty, to manage the long working days more easily.

The right candidate will be experienced, energetic and organised, able to balance sole charge, shared care and proxy parenting. The family value routine and structure for the children, alongside plenty of fun activities, playdates and outings. Both parents work, and while the mother often works from home, she appreciates being able to see the children briefly during the day. The family keep a very tidy house and expect their nanny to enjoy maintaining a clean and organised environment. They employ other staff, including a full-time housekeeper, and appreciate good communication and teamwork. Discretion is essential, as the family is high profile.

The children are lively and affectionate, so the family are looking for someone who brings warmth, initiative and a positive outlook. The nanny should be comfortable supporting the children’s social life and helping them develop independence and confidence. Flexibility is important, and the family are equally supportive of their staff, offering extra holiday when possible and fostering a positive, respectful atmosphere at home.

This is a strictly non-smoking role. It would be helpful if the nanny could drive, especially abroad, although driving is not required in London. There are no pets in the family home, though there is a friendly dog at the grandparents’ house in New York.

The package includes a generous salary of £70,000 gross per annum plus significant bonuses and additional payments. The role begins in September, though the family is willing to wait for the right candidate.

Requirements:

Completely fluent in German

Baby experience essential

Previous rota experience strongly preferred

Substantial sole charge experience with two young children

Lives in London or within an easy commute of North Kensington

Right to work in the UK

Excellent, checkable references with long-term placements

Good level of English
