Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice Contract Manager, you will support the successful delivery of commercial tiling and stonework projects from planning through to completion. Working alongside experienced managers, you will learn how construction projects are organised, monitored and delivered safely, on time and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing project drawings, specifications and programmes

  • Assisting with project planning before works commence

  • Attending pre-start, project and site meetings

  • Supporting the coordination of labour and subcontractors

  • Visiting sites to monitor progress and quality

  • Recording site progress using photographs and written updates

  • Identifying and reporting site issues, delays and access restrictions

  • Assisting with organising materials and deliveries

  • Monitoring progress against project programmes

  • Supporting quality inspections and snagging activities

  • Assisting with health and safety requirements on site.

  • Maintaining accurate project records and documentation

  • Supporting communication with site teams, subcontractors and clients.

  • Assisting with client inspections and project handovers

  • Learning about variations, project costs and commercial processes

What you'll learn

Course contents

  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Training schedule

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a nationally recognised Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship standard via our training partner, Learning Skills Partnership. Your Apprenticeship typically takes 21 months to complete and is fully supported through a combination of regular online lessons, e-learning materials, and access to their team of experts for 1-2-1 advice and support.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Maths (grade 4/C)

A Level in:

Any (grade 4/C)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
