Health, Safety & Environmental Administrator and First Aider (P2026020) - London

Our University

Ravensbourne University London is a dynamic institution at the intersection of creativity, business, and technology. Based in London’s Design District in the heart of North Greenwich, we are home to a diverse, global community in one of the world’s most vibrant business and creative hubs.

The Role

We are seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Administrator and First Aider to join our team. As the first point of contact for day-to-day health, safety, environmental and first aid queries, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our campus is safe, compliant, and welcoming for students, staff, visitors, and contractors.

You will manage a range of administrative tasks, maintain essential records, support health, safety & environmental processes, coordinate inductions and provide efficient first aid support across the building. Working closely with colleagues across Estates & Facilities and wider university teams, your work will directly contribute to the wellbeing and success of everyone who uses our campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for first aid provision for students and staff.
  • Manage incoming health, safety & environmental tasks, risk assessments and reports across all university sites.
  • Use our in-house system (TOPdesk) to schedule, track and manage activities.
  • Maintain contractor documentation, inductions and compliance records.
  • Support the production of health, safety & environmental reports, including DSE, pregnancy, PEEPs and individual needs assessments.
  • Organise and minute the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Committee.
  • Ensure accurate accident reporting and support RIDDOR processes.
  • Manage first aid rooms, supplies, medication logs and grab bags.
  • Liaise with internal teams, external agencies and healthcare professionals as required.
  • Support new employee health safety & environmental induction processes and training bookings.

The Candidate

You will bring a positive, customer‑focused approach and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of teams. You’ll be calm under pressure, confident in communicating with others and able to balance multiple priorities effectively.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • A good standard of education with excellent written and spoken English.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and administrative systems.
  • Previous administrative experience.
  • Understanding or experience of health, safety & environmental topics.
  • A flexible, adaptive and proactive working style.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a Higher Education or Estates & Facilities environment.
  • A recognised health & safety qualification (or willingness to gain one)

We Offer

  • Generous leave
  • Competitive Pension Scheme
  • An Employee Assistance programme
  • A cycle-to-work scheme

This role requires working across Ravensbourne buildings on a weekly shift roster, Monday to Friday, 7am 7pm, with occasional weekend working.

If you’re passionate about helping others and building a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture, we’d love to hear from you.
