Product Manager Data-Driven Underwriting Solutions (80 - 100% working degree)
At Swiss Re, we're reimagining how Life and Health insurers harness the power of data and AI. If you're passionate about building software products that make a real difference to how underwriting decisions are made – more efficiently, more transparently, and with better evidence – this could be the role for you.
About the role
As part of the Data-Driven Underwriting & Analytics team, you will manage the product lifecycle for assigned capabilities within our underwriting solutions portfolio, with an initial focus on Underwriting Assistant. You will work closely with fellow Product Managers, regional underwriting experts, clients, business analysts, UX designers, technology teams, and external partners. The role combines product direction with hands-on requirements, prioritisation and release readiness, balancing regional needs with a coherent global product.
Key responsibilities
Product strategy and roadmap: Shape the product vision, roadmap and priorities, balancing client needs, market opportunities, business value and delivery capacity.
Discovery and requirements: Understand underwriting workflows and translate business and client needs into clear requirements, user journeys and acceptance criteria.
Product delivery and quality: Work closely with technology, AI and UX teams to drive product development, manage dependencies, coordinate testing and continuously improve product quality.
AI and medical evidence: Advance AI-driven underwriting capabilities, including medical evidence extraction, summarisation and integration of data sources such as electronic health records, APS and laboratory reports, with a focus on accuracy, transparency and usability.
Client and partner collaboration: Support client engagements, proofs of concept and implementations. Collaborate with external technology and data providers to evaluate solutions and translate opportunities into product capabilities.
Stakeholder management and governance: Align stakeholders across regions and functions, communicate product priorities and delivery expectations.
About the team
The Data-Driven Underwriting & Analytics team works at the intersection of underwriting, technology and data within Life & Health Solutions. We collaborate across regions and disciplines to develop solutions that help insurers make better use of evidence and insights, improve underwriting workflows and realise value from using data and AI.
About you
You are a curious, driven, and experienced software Product Manager who thrives on connecting business needs with technology. You bring structure and clarity to complex topics, and you know how to influence and inspire colleagues across teams and geographies without relying on formal authority. You're equally comfortable in a client conversation, a backlog refinement session, or a strategic planning workshop.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
Proven B2B software product management experience: A strong track record of managing products from discovery and requirements through to delivery and adoption, with solid command of roadmap planning, backlog prioritisation, and the software development lifecycle.
Requirements translation and prioritisation expertise: Demonstrated ability to translate complex, competing business needs into clear requirements and acceptance criteria, and to make smart prioritisation decisions in resource-constrained environments.
Analytical judgement and data confidence: Strong analytical skills with the confidence to work with data, technical teams, and external partners to assess options and make evidence-based product decisions.
Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder management: Proven ability to collaborate across regional and functional boundaries, manage diverse stakeholder groups, and engage effectively with clients. Confident in negotiating priorities with regional stakeholders, constructively challenging requests and pushing back when needed, ensuring decisions are guided by business value, evidence and global product strategy rather than stakeholder pressure.
These are additional nice to haves:
Familiarity with the Life & Health insurance or reinsurance value chain, underwriting workflows, and medical evidence processes.
Experience with AI/ML-enabled products, generative AI, document extraction and summarisation, and an understanding of associated quality and governance considerations.
Knowledge of SaaS products, API-based integrations, vendor evaluation, UX design principles, and client implementation and adoption strategies.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week. #LI-Hybrid
