AI Solution Consultant (Contract)
About the role
As an AI Solution Consultant , you will sit at the intersection of strategy and technical delivery within the Artificial Intelligence (AI) practice, reporting to the Technology Director. The role exists to help TN shape our internal AI practice and support our clients move from ambition to outcome, by identifying high-value AI opportunities, shaping practical solutions, and delivering them into production responsibly.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business challenges, design end-to-end AI solutions, and guide delivery teams through implementation. The role combines trusted advisory capability with hands-on technical leadership, creating impact across clients, project teams, and the wider practice.
Key responsibilities
Inform TN’s AI strategy and market positioning, further developing our proposition in the context of AI enabled solutions and services.
Lead discovery activities with client stakeholders to identify, shape, and prioritise AI opportunities that align with measurable business outcomes.
Translate business challenges into clear and deliverable AI use cases, building robust business cases that balance value, cost, risk, and success measures while communicating recommendations confidently to senior decision-makers.
Design end-to-end AI solutions that bring together data, models, integrations, and human workflows, selecting appropriate approaches based on business need and practical value.
Define the non-functional requirements that support successful implementation, including considerations such as performance, accuracy, cost, observability, security, and responsible AI practices.
Produce solution architectures, target operating models, and delivery roadmaps that create clear direction for both clients and engineering teams.
Lead cross-functional delivery teams, providing guidance and direction across disciplines while supporting activities such as prompt design, evaluation frameworks, and production readiness.
Own the quality of delivered solutions by ensuring they are thoroughly tested, appropriately monitored, and able to operate safely and effectively in production environments.
Contribute to the growth of the AI practice through the development of reusable assets, accelerators, points of view, and case studies that strengthen capability over time.
Support business growth by contributing to proposals, responding to client opportunities, and presenting ideas and solutions during pre-sales and pitch activities.
Mentor consultants and engineers, helping to develop capability across the practice and continuously raise delivery standards.
Who you are and how you’ll make an impact
You bring experience informing AI-led organisations and delivering data, analytics, or AI solutions, including significant exposure to client-facing environments where you have worked directly with stakeholders to solve complex business problems. You have successfully taken AI solutions beyond proof-of-concept stages into production environments and understand what is required to deliver solutions that create measurable value.
Your experience gives you a practical understanding of modern AI technologies and approaches, including machine learning, deep learning, generative AI patterns, and cloud platforms. You are comfortable applying techniques such as prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation methods, fine-tuning approaches, and agentic workflows in ways that are appropriate to the problem being solved.
You understand the operational realities of delivering AI successfully, including deployment, monitoring, model lifecycle management, and maintaining quality over time. You can communicate confidently with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders, challenging thinking constructively and presenting evidence-based recommendations clearly.
You operate with a pragmatic mindset, focusing on the simplest effective solution rather than complexity for its own sake. You measure success through the value delivered to clients, communicate directly and clearly, and take ownership for ensuring safety, ethics, and security are considered throughout delivery. Experience working in regulated environments, contributing to the wider AI community, or applying responsible AI frameworks further strengthens your ability to make an impact.
A day in the life
A typical day could begin with a workshop alongside client stakeholders to understand business challenges and uncover opportunities where AI can create measurable value. From there, you may work with colleagues to refine use cases and shape solution options that balance technical capability with practical business outcomes, whilst considering how this informs TN’s AI proposition.
Later in the day, you might review solution architecture with engineers, discuss prompt design or evaluation approaches with delivery teams, and help resolve implementation decisions that affect quality, performance, or scalability. You may also spend time preparing proposals, supporting client conversations, or contributing reusable assets and insights that strengthen the wider AI practice.
Throughout the day, you act as a bridge between business and technology teams - helping stakeholders make informed decisions, supporting delivery teams to build responsibly, and ensuring solutions remain focused on achieving meaningful outcomes.
