The Cybersecurity function is responsible for enabling the safe execution of HSBC’s global business priorities to enable them to support our growing customer needs and securing our customers financial future - grounded in mature, simplistic foundational controls that mitigate the latest cyber-attacks and advanced targeted threats by leveraging a data driven approach.

The Global Head of Cybersecurity Change Execution is a senior role within the Cybersecurity Strategy and Transformation function that has specific responsibilities for providing oversight and driving the execution of change initiatives (ensuring consistency and alignment across both Run the Bank (RTB) activity and Change the Bank (CTB) projects) across the Cybersecurity function. The role holder will work closely and collaboratively with the core delivery areas within Cybersecurity as well with the business facing teams and stakeholders to ensure change initiatives are aligned with the overall Cybersecurity Strategy and embedded within the Business.

Job Requirements:

  • Contribute to the development of the broader Cybersecurity strategy with an emphasis on people, process and the change capability required to execute the strategy.
  • Working closely with the Global Head of Cybersecurity Delivery to continually refine the multi-year Cybersecurity investment strategy.
  • Ensure delivery of the Cybersecurity programme in line with Cybersecurity vision and strategy.
  • Establish the frameworks and mechanisms that enable cybersecurity to manage and monitor its services and capabilities, ensuring value end-to-end across both RTB and CTB (One Wallet), and ultimately to our business and customers.
  • Drive accountability for the successful delivery of Cybersecurity change programme.
  • Establish the process to ensure demand for change investment is understood, quantified, and prioritized in line with Cybersecurity priorities and the strategic direction. This will include facilitating the process to identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the Cybersecurity organization
  • Develop and deliver a programme of continuous improvement across the cybersecurity function, improving processes and automation.
  • Support the prioritisation of cybersecurity investment and ensuring there is a robust financial criteria and balanced metrics aligned to the vision and purpose for each programme/project.
  • Support the development of a learning culture and embedding best practice in project management techniques.
  • Oversee an effective PMO that provides visibility of programme status, risks and progress to inform decision-making at all levels.
  • Work with the Global Head of Cybersecurity Delivery and COE Lead to build a professional career path related to Programme Execution that reduces the dependence on contract resource in key roles, and moves the function towards a permanent-led function balanced with flexible resource where required
  • Acts as the delegate for the Global Head of Cybersecurity Delivery on all matters related to Cybersecurity projects as and when required
  • Supports the development of appropriate change budgets and works in close collaboration with the COO function to ensure business cases are developed, forecasts remain in line with targets.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Possess an entrepreneurial approach to solving complex cybersecurity challenges, strong leadership, and communication skills, coupled knowledge of cybersecurity and successful experience embedding these within a large organisation.
  • Drive successful engagement with senior management, providing expert knowledge influencing effective management of cybersecurity risk including with the Group CISO, Group and GB/F/Market CIOs and CTOs, business Engineering Leads and DAO.
  • Effective partnership with wider stakeholders including Cybersecurity leadership, 2LoD, Internal Audit, and key external bodies.
  • Drive a customer-centric culture, championing outstanding customer advocacy. Proactively seek opportunities to maximise Cybersecurity strategies to improve global HSBC business operations.
  • Ensure appropriate oversight mechanisms and high standards of internal control, enabling the identification and management of emerging threats in the Cybersecurity landscape are in-place.
  • Set the tone and direction of respective Cybersecurity practices and standards across the HSBC Group to proactively increase Cybersecurity awareness, ownership, and risk reduction.
  • Develop and maintain a high performing, creative and delivery focused team of change professionals.
  • Ability to lead and motivate other managers and staff, employing appropriate management styles.
  • An understanding of industry standard Cyber controls frameworks e.g., NIST
  • An understanding of the changing regulatory environment externally and its potential impact on the business.
  • Experience of managing significant change programmes in a large-scale, regulated, cyber, financial services environment.
  • Understanding of project management principles and/or a relevant Planning or Project Management qualification.
  • Experience of working on global portfolio’s servicing businesses, functions, and regional stakeholders.
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills set.
  • Financial and accounting acumen, with ability to budget, track and control expenditure across both CTB and RTB, in addition understanding and application of the Banks cost taxonomy e.g., Charges, Directs and Profit & Loss (PNL).
  • Ability to use strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve problems whilst maintaining budgets, time scales and quality of output.
