• Assess, fabricate and prescribe a range of static and dynamic splints, ensuring safe fitting, patient education and ongoing review.
• Manage complex post-operative rehabilitation programmes, including wound care, scar management, oedema management and functional rehabilitation where appropriate.
• Provide specialist advice and education to patients, carers and healthcare professionals regarding hand therapy management and self-management strategies.
• Work collaboratively with consultants, GPs, physiotherapists, nurses, rehabilitation assistants and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions and service development initiatives.
• Supervise therapy assistants, junior staff and occupational therapy students where appropriate.

Essential Requirements:
• Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Previous experience working within Hand Therapy or Upper Limb Rehabilitation.
• Experience assessing and treating adults with traumatic, post-operative, rheumatological and musculoskeletal hand conditions.
• Experience in specialist hand splinting, including fabrication and prescription of custom thermoplastic splints.
• Experience working within an NHS MSK, Hand Therapy or Orthopaedic Service.
• Excellent communication, documentation and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage a specialist caseload independently and prioritise effectively.

Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent specialist hand assessment and rehabilitation skills.
• Strong knowledge of upper limb anatomy, biomechanics and hand function.
• Expertise in splint fabrication and complex hand therapy interventions.
• Excellent clinical reasoning and evidence-based decision-making abilities.
• Compassionate, patient-centred approach to rehabilitation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexible, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality NHS services.

What We Offer:
