Job Summary

Equinix is seeking a driven individual to Lead our EMEA Corporate Communications team as its Director, reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Communications. This role leads the overall Equinix corporate communications strategy and execution in EMEA, including: public relations, internal communications, and executive communications.. Additionally, the role collaborates closely with our regional social media, analyst relations, customer communications and public policy teams.

This role partners closely with the President of EMEA and the EMEA leadership team to provide communications strategic counsel and support. The primary goal is to increase overall brand awareness for Equinix in EMEA among our key stakeholders including our target customers, partners and prospects, while maintaining alignment with global messaging and objectives. This role also plays a critical role in managing crisis communications and issues response in EMEA partnering closely with the corporate communications and crisis management team in the U.S.

The ideal candidate will have strong understanding and experience working in a multi-channel, multi-country marketing environment, preferably with IT industry experience. The Equinix culture is collaborative and open, while having a strong bias towards producing demonstrable results, in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking a positive and high-energy person, who will bring experience, enthusiasm and a thirst for learning to this pivotal role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a coordinated plan for optimizing integrated communications across the region

  • Be a trusted advisor and provide expert communications counsel to diverse stakeholders across the region and prepare executives for external and internal appearances

  • Oversee the selection of regional PR agencies, manage those critical relationships across the region and closely align with the corporate team in Redwood City, California

  • Identify and implement scalable operational mechanisms (tools) for effective communication serving various needs within the region

  • Contribute to the policies, guidelines and operations of our communications programs and tactically manage and oversee that policies are adhered to within the region

  • Develop a coordinated, EMEA-wide corporate communications strategy that aligns to the global communications strategy and incorporates local flavor

  • Partner closely with key stakeholders across the region and our corporate teams to collaborate, gain alignment and deliver a comms plan integrated with our go-to-market strategy

  • Support regional president executive communications, such as the development and maintenance of executive platforms, all hands meeting coordination and execution, etc.

  • Manage the regional internal communications program including strategy and execution of an IC program that reflects the activities of the EMEA team on the regional intranet site and collaborating with the global IC program

  • Support broader business initiatives such as M&A, Equinix Impact events and promotion, integration with the company’s channel strategy, corporate executive travel in region, etc.

  • Set measurable objectives and KPIs to gauge the communications impact and effectiveness and oversee communications measurement, including the implementation of relevant dashboards and reports

  • Management of budget and resource allocation to support success and efficiency

  • Implement identified protocols and practices for crisis communications in the region

Qualifications

  • Seasoned communications professional with proven years' experience preferred in managing communications programs and porven years managing a regional communications program - preferably at a high-growth, fast paced B2B technology company

  • Self-directed strategic thinker capable of collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and making an impact quickly

  • This is a strategic and tactical (executional) position combined into one key role; therefore, the ability to do the work as well as plan the work are critical to the success of this role

  • Experience managing multiple projects, stakeholders and deadline simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Excellent follow-through skills are a necessity

  • A self-starter with the ability to formulate a clear point of view and exercise high judgement

  • Ability to shape and drive strategy regionally

  • Excellent at creating and maintaining collaborative working relationships across all levels and disciplines, receptive to feedback and input from others and quick to apply changes

  • A proven people-manager with strong leadership skills who understands and values not just the “what” required from team members but the importance of the cultural “how”

  • Possesses outstanding oral and written communication skills. Thrives in a team environment and has a track record of developing effective and trusted relationships at all levels of a matrixed organization

  • Strong and confident leadership style

  • Previous demonstrated linkage of regional communications efforts to an organization’s broader campaign plan

  • BA/BS degree in marketing, communications or equivalent required
