Cancer services in Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) have undergone a major transformation programme to improve the quality of care and patient experience. The programme includes a new Cancer Centre housing ambulatory cancer services, opened in 2016 and a new cancer treatment centre at Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup (QMS) which opened in May 2017. Clinical pathways have been revised to optimise patient care. This post comprises 8.25 PAs to join the teams at Guy's and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital (KCH).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will participate in outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary team meetings, teaching & ongoing service development integrating across oncology services.

GOLD (Geriatric Oncology Liaison Development) is an innovative onco-geriatrics liaison service providing comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) for older people undergoing cancer treatment. GOLD aims to improve the overall care of older people undergoing cancer treatment, improve fitness & comorbidity co-management, support during cancer treatment, improve tolerance to treatment as well as better inform cancer treatment decision-making.

The postholder will be working closely with Drs Sarah Rudman, Debra Josephs, Deborah Enting, Danielle Crawley, Elias Pintus and Kate Smith. They will be supported by a team of CNSs. The GOLD part of the job will be working closely with three consultant geriatricians (Tania Kalsi, Carly Welch, James Maguire), a team of specialist nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and a clinical fellow.

  • Hold MRCP
  • Full GMC Registration
  • On GMC Specialist List in Medical Oncology or within six months of attaining CCT.
Desirable

  • Possession of, or working towards, a higher degree qualification (MD or PhD)
Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Training in management of Urological cancers
  • Experience in leading and delivering recruitment to clinical trials
  • Experience of multidisciplinary cancer care.
  • Experience of clinical trial development and operation.
Desirable

  • Wide general experience in Medical Oncology and an ability to offer expert clinical opinion in a range of problems within the speciality.
Skills
