Location: Southwark, South London - commutable from Peckham, Bermondsey, Camberwell, Elephant & Castle and surrounding areas
Pay: £110-£125 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Long-term temporary with potential to become permanent

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in the Southwark area of South London .

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting primary-aged pupils who require additional help to access learning and feel confident within the classroom. You'll work with children with a range of needs, providing the structure, encouragement and individualised support they need to make progress.

We're looking for someone who understands that effective SEN support isn't about doing everything for a pupil - it's about helping them develop the skills and confidence to become increasingly independent.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs
• Support children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language and communication needs
• Adapt learning activities and resources to individual ability levels
• Work towards targets outlined within EHCPs and individual support plans
• Deliver targeted interventions to develop academic, communication and social skills
• Support pupils with sensory and emotional regulation
• Use visual supports and structured routines to improve engagement
• Implement positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies where required
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships
• Monitor progress and communicate observations with teachers and the wider SEND team

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEND
• Experience as an SEN TA, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant or similar would be advantageous
• Understanding of needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Speech & Language difficulties
• Confident providing individualised 1:1 support
• Experience working with EHCPs would be beneficial
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, visual communication or SALT strategies is desirable
• Calm and consistent when supporting pupils who may become dysregulated
• Patient, proactive and able to adapt your approach to different children
• Reliable and committed to a full-time, long-term position
• Able to commute reliably to Southwark
