Transport Assistant Opportunity – Camden Branch
Play a key role supporting our busy Camden branch as a Transport Assistant. You will contribute to the smooth and safe operation of transport and delivery processes, ensuring our customers continue to benefit from Lawsons’ outstanding service and reputation for reliability.
Location
53 Blundell St, London, N7 9BN.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:00 (44.5 hours per week) with alternate Saturdays (08:00 – 12:00).

Main Responsibilities of a Transport Assistant in Camden
- Support the branch transport and logistics team in day-to-day operations
- Assist with vehicle scheduling, delivery planning, and route optimisation for efficient cargo flow
- Help with the safe and accurate loading/unloading of goods in line with health and safety regulations
- Act as a helpful point of contact for drivers and customers, providing updates and resolving queries promptly
- Monitor and report on vehicle condition, ensuring timely maintenance and compliance checks
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, returns, and vehicle checks
- Promote and contribute to a safe working environment, adhering to all company safety procedures
- Assist with the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in the branch transport operation
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Previous experience in a transport, logistics, or warehouse environment is essential
- Previous experience withing a builders merchants or similar is also essential
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Detail-orientated with a proactive approach to solving problems
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Competent in basic IT use including email and data entry
- Understanding of health and safety procedures within a transport or warehouse environment
- Enthusiastic, adaptable, and willing to learn
