he Senior Social Worker will:

• thoroughly re-assess both health and social care needs under the Care Act 2014, S.117 of the Mental Health Act 1983 and, where applicable, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 .
• evaluate the effectiveness of placements in meeting needs and in progressing recovery-focused step-down plans.
• present reviews to weekly panels, providing well-evidenced recommendations in relation to placements. formulate action plans for stepdown
• undertake direct work to progress stepdown of individual residents in collaboration with the responsible clinical teams

The Social Worker will champion and model a strengths-based approach to assessment and interventions, proactively identifying and addressing barriers to stepdown.

The successful candidate will have:

• A high level of legal literacy and substantial experience of carrying out statutory assessments and reviews within the framework of the CA 2014, MHA 1983 and MCA 2005
• Very substantial experience of adult mental health casework in a community mental health setting
• Commitment to strengths-based and least restrictive approaches to providing adult social care
• Knowledge and experience of the assessment and management of risk in relation to adult mental health service-users, including users of forensic mental health services
• The ability to collate and analyse information and present coherent recommendations and action plans to panel
• Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• A high level of organisational skill and the ability to work to tight deadlines autonymously without continuous supervision
