Mobile Automotive Technician
Mobile Vehicle Technician – Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) Division
Join us for a new era of mobile repair. Work on a scheduled list of jobs, equipped with the tools and support you need to deliver high‑quality service directly to members’ driveways or workplace car parks.
What You’ll Do
- Perform routine servicing and comprehensive diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
- Carry out in‑depth repairs normally done in a workshop, ensuring vehicles meet our safety standards.
- Provide clear advice and recommendations to members based on your inspections.
- Complete vehicle safety checks in line with organisational standards.
- Use a fully equipped van, fuel card, uniform, complete tool set and diagnostic kit from day one.
Who We’re Looking For
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
- At least 2 years’ experience as a technician working on light vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly with customers.
- Desire for independence, variety and the chance to make a real difference on each job.
Working Conditions
- Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
- Core hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with one Saturday in every four weeks.
- No emergency call‑outs, no unpredictable shift patterns, and no roadside recoveries.
- All appointments are pre‑booked and members are expecting you.
Compensation & Benefits
- Earnings that motivate: Competitive base salary of £45,378 (including London weighting where applicable) with on‑target earnings up to £57,000.
- Guaranteed overtime (opt‑in): After the first month you can elect extra rest‑day work at £30 per hour, adding up to £5,000 + per year.
- Vehicle & tool package: Fully equipped mobile van, fuel card, uniform and complete tool set from day one.
- Holiday & time off: 23 days annual leave (rising to 25 after service), plus bank holidays, paid family leave and flexible scheduling.
- Pension & financial security: Scheme with up to 6.5 % employer‑matched contributions and life assurance cover up to 4 × salary (optional 10 × with flex benefits).
- Wellbeing support: 24/7 confidential assistance available to you and household members aged 16 +.
- Additional perks: Access to a discount portal covering retailers, holidays, tools and tech; automatic enrolment in a colleague share scheme after probation.
Opportunities for Growth
We invest in your development – from ongoing technical training to future electric‑vehicle and advanced diagnostic skills. The role offers a clear pathway to senior technical positions and specialist expertise within a trusted national organisation.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Planned appointments rather than emergency responses.
- Consistent workflow with time to do the job properly.
- In‑depth repairs, not temporary roadside fixes.
- Supportive parts‑ordering process built into each job.
- Clear digital schedules via our mobile service platform.
