Maintenance & Availability Team Leader
An opportunity has arisen to join TMI as a Maintenance & Availability Team Leader. You will be responsible for managing Maintainer Engineers within a team, overseeing all maintenance work, to ensure the key deliverables of the shift plan are delivered on time. Ensure that all maintenance activities required are completed safely, by competent staff in line with the vehicle maintenance instructions and requirements. To work across the departments with the Maintenance & Availability department to ensure the service expectation are met, and all safety and quality requirements are met
This is a permanent role based at our TMI Engineering Centre.

We are looking for someone to...
- Ensure compliance of company policies and procedures across the depot delivery requirements.
- Ensure that Delivery of the described teams work is compliant with the standards laid down in both company and industry standards.
- Ensure staff within their team have the required competencies to carry out their duties prior to starting work.
- Ensure that the teams complete all work within the pre-described safety limits.
- Review operating processes to ensure that the safety integrity of the Production function is maintained.
- Plan, lead and control the described maintenance work activities for service delivery.
- Assist in control of depot-operating costs by effective planning of local resource.
- Ensure all planned work is completed in accordance with safe working rules and regulations.
- Monitor and audit the quality and completeness of data, inputted into the CMMS and any non-conformances are investigated and corrective action applied.
- Continuous assessment of planned vs. actual outputs.
- Ensure that the Teams work efficiently, focus on the correct priorities, and collaborate constructively.
- Carry out Technical, Quality, Safety and General briefings as necessary.
- Plan and control leave entitlement for direct employees within set guidelines to meet the Depot Maintenance Delivery Plan.
- Through direct coaching, ensure allocated staff are trained and developed in line with the local business requirements.
- Make sure a strong succession plan is in place to develop and retain key competencies.
- First line management of team including recruitment, development, performance management and exit.
- Engage with multiple departments to ensure a seamless service delivery is maintained.
- Leads the team to ensure teams are focused on deliverables.
- Take responsibility to ensure safety legislation and rolling stock standards are met in full.
- Build close relationship with the Maintenance & Availability Department to ensure a team ethos is applied and Silo working is avoided.
- Promote continuous improvement through 5S and Lean maintenance philosophies.
Requirements
You'll need to have...
Essential
- Managing a Medium sized Team
- Experienced in maintenance tasks in a rail environment.
- Ability to look for performance opportunities to simplify and streamline the business.
- Ability to liaise with other departments to ensure an uninterrupted service is delivered.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety standards and their application.
- Good understanding of of Eurostar processes.
Desirable
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A good appreciation of IT systems.
- Good understanding of HR related people processes.
- Ideally an ME3 or above or a current deputy
