We provide innovative and responsive housing, care and support services that promote choice and independence for people with a variety of needs including people with learning disabilities, autism, older people, young people and people with mental health support needs across North and East London.
Outward Housing Department provides housing management aimed at sustaining vulnerable people in their tenancies and assisting people to move on from short term services. We work with a number of registered housing providers and in conjunction with our Group partner Newlon Housing Trust to provide housing management to their supported housing homes.
As a Housing Assistant you will be expected to contribute to the efficient and effective administration of the Supported Housing Department and work closely with the Tenancy and Income Management Officers and the Housing Management Team in order to ensure that a comprehensive, sensitive and efficient housing management service is delivered to our tenants.
You will also work as part of the Housing team to ensure a seamless service is provided across the income, housing management and maintenance functions of the department including liaising effectively with internal departments, landlords, and external agencies in relation to Housing Management matters.
The successful candidates will also have excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience providing administrative support in a busy environment, ideally within a housing or care setting
- Ability to contribute to the effective operation of the Supported Housing Department , supporting tenancy, income, and maintenance functions
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Experience in liaising effectively with internal departments, landlords, and external agencies
- Proven experience in providing high-quality, sensitive, and person-centered housing management services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
- Empathy, patience, and a respectful approach when engaging with vulnerable tenants
- Established experience and skills of s upported housing principles, tenancy sustainment, and housing-related support
- A proactive, problem-solving mind-set and the ability to handle sensitive or challenging situations professionally
- Previous experience handling telephone and email enquiries in a customer service setting
Desirable:
- Awareness of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements in a housing or support context
