Senior Security Engineer
About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Security Engineer to join our engineering / service team. You will play a key role in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of advanced security systems across commercial and residential sites in London and the surrounding region. Your expertise will help ensure that all installed systems operate reliably, meet regulatory and industry standards, and provide a high level of service to clients. Key Responsibilities * Lead the installation of security systems, including CCTV, access control, door entry, and intruder alarms. * Commission and test newly installed systems; ensure correct configuration and integration. * Provide maintenance and service support: carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault-finding, repairs, upgrades, and reactive maintenance visits. * Participate in an on-call rota for emergency call-outs, troubleshooting, and system restoration. * Conduct site surveys, prepare quotations, and scope new projects. * Produce technical documentation: wiring diagrams, as-fit drawings, commissioning certificates, and handover documentation. * Train end-users / clients in system use and functionality. * Maintain van stock, tools, and spare parts inventory; manage materials efficiently. * Ensure all work complies with relevant British Standards and third-party certifications (e.g., SSAIB, NSI). * Promote continuous improvement in service quality, processes, and customer satisfaction. Skills & Experience Required * Significant professional experience (ideally 5+ years) in security systems engineering or service, specifically with CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, or door entry systems. * Strong technical knowledge of security systems, including IP CCTV, NVRs/DVRs, networked access control, alarm panels. * Proven fault-finding, diagnostics, and repair capability. * Experience in commissioning complex security systems and conducting site surveys. * Excellent understanding of relevant standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., British/EN Standards, NSI / SSAIB). * Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, site plans. * Good customer-facing and communication skills — able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across London / surrounding regions. * Good organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects. * Willingness to work on-call and flexible hours as required. Desirable (but not essential) * Certification or qualifications in relevant technologies (e.g., CCTV manufacturers, access control systems). * Experience with specific vendor systems (e.g., Paxton, Gallagher, Texecom, etc.). * Electrical qualifications, CSCS / IPAF / relevant health & safety certifications. * Previous experience working within an accredited service organisation
