Responsibilities

  • Designing and delivering dynamic and interactive drama lessons that align with the curriculum.
  • Encouraging students to explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop excellent communication skills through drama activities.
  • Organizing and directing school productions, including rehearsals and performances, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Assessing students' progress and providing constructive feedback to help them refine their performance techniques.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to create cross-curricular projects that integrate drama with other subjects, fostering interdisciplinary learning.
  • Planning and leading workshops and extracurricular activities to further engage students with drama outside of regular lessons.
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in drama education and using innovative teaching methodologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • Proven experience teaching drama to students at the primary or secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for drama, as well as assessment strategies and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
  • Creative and adaptable approach to teaching, with the ability to tailor lessons to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Enthusiasm for the arts and a passion for nurturing students' performance skills and love for drama.
