The Role – BSL Teaching Assistant
- Full-time, long-term role starting immediately
- Support students with hearing impairments, autism, and additional SEN needs
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support, using BSL to aid communication and learning
- Assist pupils with social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily routines
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver tailored learning plans
- Contribute to an inclusive, engaging classroom environment where every student can thrive
Person Specification
- Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related subject (essential)
- Proficiency in British Sign Language (minimum Level 2 required; Level 3 preferred)
- Previous experience supporting young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
- Empathetic, patient, and resilient, with strong communication skills
- Genuine passion for SEN education and helping vulnerable learners succeed
