An exciting opportunity has become available in the North London Cardiac Operational Delivery Network for a Deputy Clinical Director, 1 PA equivalent to 0.1 WTE/4 hours per week (12-month fixed term) to join the team and deliver significant change across cardiology services in the region.
North London has a diverse population of 6 million people served by 23 hospitals including 4 tertiary specialist cardiac centres and 19 district general hospitals delivery secondary care. The region is split into three Integrated Care Boards supporting over one hundred primary care networks.
We work closely with our stakeholders in the region, including NHS Trusts, clinicians & allied healthcare professionals, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and Primary Care Network (PCN) partners to implement a population health approach to reducing health inequalities, sharing best practice, and implementing optimal end-to-end pathways across North London.

Main duties of the job

Working with the North London Cardiac Operational Delivery Network Manager and Project Management team, the Deputy Clinical Director will support the Clinical Director in providing professional and clinical leadership across the network and provide strategic guidance:
• To ensure governance and strategic oversight to the NLCODN.
• To ensure equity of access, quality and experience across the region.
• Provides a leadership role in quality oversight and delivery supporting the network in delivery of the NHS 'three shifts':
- analogue to digital
- care in hospitals to care in the community
- from treatment to prevention.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is a part-time job, fixed term for 1 year, for which funding is available, equivalent to 0.05 WTE/1PA/4hours per week.

Working with the NLCODN Network Manager and Project Management team, the Deputy Clinical Director will support the Clinical Director in providing professional and clinical leadership across the NLCODN and provide strategic guidance:
• To ensure governance and strategic oversight to the NLCODN.
• To ensure equity of access, quality and experience across the region.

that ensures equitable access to services, improves the quality of care and manage patient flows across the network.
The post-holder will promote and support provider partnership working for patient benefit throughout the NLCODN, facilitating the resolution of differing views and approaches.
• The post holder will support the network to work closely with the Integrated Care Boards in the development and delivery of the NLCODN annual plan with clear objectives and milestones.
• The post holder will be the Deputy Chair of the NLCODN steering group and attend the bi-monthly London Cardiac Networks meeting.
• The post-holder supports the Clinical Director, leading on clinical governance, ensuring a comprehensive approach across the NLCODN including quality improvement and outcomes and adherence to local and national advice, guidelines, recommendations, audits, and standards. This will include the post holder supporting the Clinical Director and Network Manager at key review meetings with the Cardiac Transformation Programme and NHS England.
• The post-holder represents the NLCODN with external stakeholders and others. This includes local, regional, and national leaders

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Registered clinical practitioner (medical) with current registration with their professional body
• Specialist training in relevant area.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable criteria

• Management qualification
• Higher degree.

Experience

Essential criteria

• Consultant, with experience working as a specialist.
• Senior leadership experience in the NHS at Trust level.
• Experience working across organisational boundaries.
• Demonstrable record of leading changes
• Experience of multi-disciplinary teamwork
• Patient and carer awareness and experience.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Knowledge and experience of working in formal clinical networks within the NHS
• Clinical governance and risk management concepts and techniques.
• Good understanding of how to use data to improve quality and productivity
• Understanding of commissioning and contracting function and processes

Desirable criteria

• Knowledge of service improvement tools and techniques
