The school delivers a broad scientific curriculum spanning GCSE Combined Science, Separate Sciences, and A-Level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The technical support team acts as a vital foundation for the faculty, enabling safe, hands-on experimental learning and supporting extracurricular STEM projects.

Health & Safety Compliance: Uphold safety protocols in accordance with COSHH regulations and CLEAPSS guidelines, ensuring correct storage, handling, and safe disposal of chemical waste and biological hazards.
Stock Control & Inventory: Monitor consumables, chemical stocks, and glassware, assisting with stock audits, logging deliveries, and placing orders for replacement materials.
Equipment Maintenance: Clean, service, and calibrate laboratory instruments—including microscopes, gas taps, Bunsen burners, and digital meters—arranging professional repairs when necessary.
Technical Assistance: Support teaching staff with practical demonstrations, assist with open evening scientific displays, and maintain clean, organized prep rooms and laboratory environments.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified to A-Level standard or equivalent in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) or holding a recognized qualification in Laboratory and Technical Skills (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3).
Experience: Previous experience as a science technician in an educational setting (secondary school, academy, or college) or a laboratory environment is highly desirable.
Skills: Solid understanding of school laboratory health and safety regulations (COSHH/CLEAPSS), strong practical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively under lesson schedules.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
