Les Petites Etoiles - Paddington is a private bilingual nursery that provides high-quality care and education for children aged 8 months to 4 years.

Role

We are seeking a fluent Mandarin speaker interested in the early years education sector to join our toddler room. This room accommodates children from 18 months to 2,5 years old.

Mandarin teachers have the honour of being responsible for teaching Mandarin through play and activities to the children. We do not have “language lessons”; children learn through activities and day-to-day interactions.

We ask that you only ever use Mandarin when speaking to the children.

Responsibilities

• Teach Mandarin through play and activities
• Supervise children during their daily activities and prepare relevant materials
• Assist with settling in new children and record their progress
• Write weekly diaries and bi-annual reports for parents
• Organise and prepare appropriate art activities for the younger children
• Communicate effectively with parents and build good relationships with them
• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure children's welfare and safety

Required Skills

• Fluency in Mandarin and the ability to only speak Mandarin when communicating with children
• Understanding of children's development and learning
• Good level of spoken and written English
• Competent IT skills
• Empathy, patience and problem-solving skills when working with children
• Positive can-do attitude, resilience and willingness to learn and improve
• Ability to take constructive criticism and be self-reflective

Required Study

If you do not have a recognised childcare qualification, you will be enrolled in a Level 3 early years qualification to learn the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) the cost of which will be covered by us.

All references will be thoroughly checked, and we will apply for a DBS update service as well as a DBS equivalent from any country the applicant was in prior to the UK and within the last 5 years.
