Head of Insurance & Financial Risk (SM&CR Certified role)

Locations : Reigate, Edinburgh, or Newcastle

Contract : Permanent | Hybrid (2 days/week in office)

Role Overview

They're now looking for a Head of Insurance & Financial Risk to join their leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer. This is a rare opportunity to shape risk strategy across reserving, capital, pricing, underwriting, and financial forecasting for a trusted UK insurer.

What you’ll do

• Lead oversight of actuarial reserves, capital projections, and pricing/underwriting models .
• Drive the ORSA process , stress & scenario testing and key risk reporting.
• Provide expert challenge and insight to senior leaders, ensuring risks stay within appetite and regulatory standards.
• Guide and develop a small team of risk professionals, fostering growth and collaboration.
• Stay ahead of emerging market and regulatory developments, shaping their response at Board level.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Extensive experience in risk management within a regulated financial services setting
• Deep understanding of the personal lines insurance sector
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver complex projects
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively
• Inclusive leadership style with a focus on talent development and team empowerment
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a results-driven mindset

Education : Degree or equivalent in insurance, actuarial science, finance, or a related field
