Vice President of Sales

London

Job description

Our client is a high-growth FinTech specialist revolutionising the digital payments landscape. Their bank-grade API solutions enable businesses to bypass traditional card networks, offering instant settlement and direct bank-to-bank transactions.

By leveraging cutting-edge Open Banking technology, their platform eliminates the risk of chargebacks and reduces transaction fees by up to 70% compared to legacy card processors. They are a primary partner for high-volume sectors including iGaming, Crypto, and eCommerce.

The VP Sales Role

We are seeking a high-octane, results-oriented VP Sales to lead the commercial strategy and execution. This is a "player-coach" leadership position where you will be both a strategic architect and a hands-on deal closer.

As the VP Sales, you will design and drive the go-to-market (GTM) plan, focusing on maximising transaction volume and scaling profitability across global markets.

Key Responsibilities

The VP Sales will be responsible for the full sales lifecycle and commercial success of the company, focusing on the following areas:

  • Strategic Sales Leadership - develop, own, and execute the comprehensive Go-to-Market strategy, defining target customer segments, channel approach, and core value propositions tailored to our payments technology. Alongside this, you will set and manage annual and quarterly revenue targets and sales quotas that align with company growth goals.
  • Revenue & Financial Accountability - be fully accountable for achieving overall sales and revenue goals, actively monitoring key financial metrics, and maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and delivering reliable forecasting to the executive leadership team.
  • Team Building & Development - recruit, train, mentor, and lead a high-performing sales team while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability and ensure the team maintains deep product and regulatory knowledge specific to the payments industry.
  • Process Optimisation & Infrastructure - define, implement, and continuously refine a scalable sales process and playbook, from lead qualification through contract negotiation, and oversee the effective utilisation and optimisation of the CRM system to ensure data integrity and accurate reporting.
  • Key Account Management & Partnerships - personally engage in and lead negotiations for strategic, high-value deals and complex enterprise accounts, and identify and secure strategic channel and technology partnerships (e.g., SaaS platforms, system integrators) to accelerate market penetration.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment - Act as the Voice of the Customer internally, collaborating closely with Product to influence the roadmap based on market demand and competitive intelligence. Also, align sales efforts directly with the Marketing team's lead generation and content strategy.

Required Experience

  • Considerable experience in B2B sales, including significant experience in a senior sales leadership role (Director/VP/Head).
  • Experience in Merchant Acquiring or Open Banking is essential.
  • Mandatory prior experience within the Payments industry selling complex, technical solutions (e.g., payment gateways, embedded finance, core banking software).
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding aggressive revenue targets.
  • Hands-on leader responsible for building and managing a high-performing sales team, encompassing strategic recruitment, training, motivation, and performance management to consistently exceed commercial targets.
  • Deep expertise in developing and managing complex sales pipelines and providing accurate forecasts.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
