Technical Services Lead
Lead the Client-side Smithfield engineering workstreams and commissioning, ensuring all preparation activities have been completed prior to occupation. Support construction project documentation process for Smithfield, ensuring training and documentation are successfully delivered and applied into operational building management. Manage the operational engineering services including the Building Management System (BMS). Overseeing and ensuring performance monitoring and evaluation of staff, contracts and buildings in the Museum’s portfolio.
London Museum have embarked on an extraordinary journey to create a new museum for London. The museum will sit in atmospheric former market buildings – over 30,000 sqm – at the heart of one of the capital’s most historic and creative quarters, Smithfield. The New Museum project is one of the largest cultural projects in Europe and will transform the museum, Smithfield and the City of London, creating a new cultural quarter for London.
The Technical Services Lead role is a key member of the New Museum Project and Estate team working in collaboration with colleagues across the museum, project contractors, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing engineering) contract service teams and design teams to make this ambitious project a reality. As we commence witnessing and commissioning and handover of the building, they will act as a pivotal member of the team providing lead Client assurance in the Soft Landings process working hand-in-hand with the New Museum Project team, MEP maintenance contractor and the Construction Management Contractor to ensure that there is a smooth delivery and commencement of on-site maintenance operations.
The Technical Services Lead position will be New Museum focussed in the immediate-term but will be embedded in the Estate Team working to ensure that lessons-learnt and operational improvements are applied to the wider Museum Estate portfolio. The team look after four sites delivering on mission for estate management that is data-driven, enhances visitor experience and achieves operational excellence.
We are seeking an individual who has proven experience in managing hard FM / engineering operations within a comparable complex estate, with the ability to analyse problems strategically and propose innovative solutions. You will have experience of a Soft Landings process – supporting a capital project from construction into operation and mobilising contracts for maintenance and operations. The successful candidate will have Technical Building Services / Engineering related qualifications (Mechanical bias desired) and applied knowledge of building services, preventative maintenance strategies and energy / building management systems. You will be data-driven and technically-savvy – knowledgeable of technology use and implementation in the built environment and with the ability to support the museum to implement strategies for integrating smart technologies.
