We’re excited to introduce a brand-new opportunity at Royal London Asset Management, created as part of our AI acceleration journey. As an Application Support Specialist, you’ll join a small, highly experienced team that supports and enhances the applications our business relies on.
In this role, you’ll provide technical and business support, with strong problem solving skills to investigate and resolve issues. Working with an established team, this role is ideal for someone early in their career with practical experience, you’ll bring curiosity, adaptability and an interest in AI, alongside exposure to cloud technologies such as Azure or Snowflake.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career with a relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Data or similar. You will help shape a growing capability and play a key role in how AI-driven solutions support the future of our business.
About the role
• Acting as the first escalation point for issues with AI applications and solutions.
• Diagnose issues and help manage problems to resolution at an application level focusing on AI.
• Exploring and evaluating ways for AI to assist current business processes using tools such as OpenAI APIs and Azure Foundry
• Aiding the business with the ongoing support of AI driven solutions and applications
• Provide technical support to a range of internal and external systems, particularly on front office systems and enterprise data management solutions.
• Applying responsible AI practices, including bias mitigation, explainability and governance.
• Collaborating with cross functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing systems.
• Learning to support APIs, work with data sources, and support solutions built within cloud and platform services.
• Monitoring and supporting Azure hosted applications including use of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and diagnostic logs to investigate incidents and performance issues.
• Contributing to documentation, runbooks, onboarding materials, and knowledge‑sharing within the squad and wider application support team.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies
About you
Qualification
• A First-Class/2:1 degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Mathematics.
• We encourage all students to apply, from recent graduates through to MSc/PhD
• Skilled in object-oriented programming using Python/C#
• Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• SQL literacy, with the ability to query, manipulate, and analyse structured data.
• Familiarity with RAG, LLM models, Agentic AI or MCPs
• Understanding of REST APIs and Open API Standards
• Git/version control basics (branching, merging, conflict resolution)
Desirable
• Experience dealing with users and/or vendors from both a business and technical perspective
• Prior internship or work experience in a Financial organisation within Application Support or AI team.
• Experience with AI development tools and platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, AWS, OpenAI, Lang Stack)
• Knowledge of Agentic AI
• Evidence of self-learning
Assessment
Assessments may include:
• Analytical problem-solving
• SQL-based data manipulation
• Understanding the effective use of LLMs
• Evaluation of soft skills, including communication, teamwork, self‑motivation, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
