Senior Complex Case Worker

Centrepoint
London

Job Title: Senior Complex Case Worker
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours)
Location: London
Salary: £40,518 - £47,377
Closing Date: 8th December 2025

Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Senior Complex Case Worker to join our Therapeutic Service based in London.

We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently.
Together with our partners, we support thousands of homeless young people each year.

Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model. The current requirement is a minimum of two days in the office per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. From 1 July 2025, this will increase to a minimum of 50% of your working week. For most full-time colleagues, this means attending the office for five days over a two-week period (e.g., two days one week and three days the next). For colleagues on different contracts (including part-time or compressed contracts) this will be adjusted accordingly.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead a small Complex Case team supporting young people across Centrepoint services.
  • Advocate for young people with complex needs and use relevant legislation to ensure they receive the support they are entitled to.
  • Work collaboratively with frontline services to respond effectively to more serious mental health presentations and perceived risk.
  • Work collaboratively with Therapeutic Services, PIE and Support & Housing colleagues as part of our Multi-Disciplinary Approach, delivering interventions to some of the most vulnerable young people at Centrepoint.

You will work closely with young people, so you should be an excellent communicator with an approachable, calm and understanding manner. You will work on a casework basis to develop person-centred support plans and provide ongoing support in partnership with internal teams and external agencies.

About You

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified Social Worker or Community Mental Health Nurse
  • Registered with Social Work England or the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of mental health, trauma, recovery and the needs of vulnerable young people.
  • Advanced knowledge of best practice in risk assessment, crisis response and safety planning.
  • Ability to complete holistic assessments and produce high-quality, person-centred support plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advocate confidently for young people.
  • Strong record-keeping, IT and case management skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding legislation, processes and thresholds.

Essential Experience:

  • Considerable experience supporting young people or adults with complex and enduring mental health needs.
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups such as those experiencing homelessness, substance misuse or offending behaviour.
  • Experience delivering psychosocial interventions within a coordinated multi-agency response.
  • Experience leading or supervising staff, including performance management.
  • Experience providing training or raising awareness of mental health and complex needs.

Desirable:

  • Experience contributing to MDTs, reflective practice or clinical discussions.
  • Experience presenting to external partners, stakeholders or conferences.

In return for your efforts you’ll receive:

  • 25 days of annual leave per year, rising by one day per year to a maximum of 27 days
  • Excellent training package to ensure you have the skills and knowledge to build a new career
  • Employer pension contributions of 4%
  • Clear career progression routes linked to portfolio work
  • Access to the Cycle 2 Work loan scheme
  • An interest-free travel loan

At Centrepoint we challenge the discrimination within society that contributes to youth homelessness, and we are just as committed to fairness and equality within Centrepoint itself. We are passionate about ensuring all of our colleagues feel included in the work we do and that we value the rich diversity within the organisation.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications regardless of sex, gender, race, age, belief (or none), gender identity, ethnic origin, class, sexuality, nationality, appearance, unrelated criminal activities, disability, responsibility for dependents, part-time or shift working, HIV status, lived experience of homelessness, or any other matter which causes a person to be treated with injustice.

Centrepoint’s policy is to recruit, employ and promote people on the basis of their suitability for the work to be performed. We aim to ensure that all applicants, employees and volunteers receive equal treatment.
