About the Role
The Science Technician will provide technical and practical support for teaching staff and students in the science department. This includes preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring laboratories are safe and fully operational for all lessons.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing laboratory equipment, materials, and chemicals for lessons and experiments.
Maintaining, cleaning, and safely storing scientific apparatus and resources.
Assisting teachers during practical lessons when required.
Monitoring and ordering stock for laboratories, including chemicals, consumables, and equipment.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, including COSHH regulations.
Supporting practical demonstrations and enrichment activities.
Maintaining accurate records of resources, equipment, and laboratory safety checks.
Experience and Qualifications
Previous experience in a science technician or laboratory role preferred.
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and handling of chemicals.
Practical skills and confidence in supporting science lessons.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Friendly, professional, and proactive approach.
