Average 36 hours per wk, 156 hours per month, shift work across 365 days per year
Sleep in allowance
Shift work across 7 days a week, over the full year including Christmas, New Year and other bank holidays
Achieving for Children (AfC) is opening a second children’s home whilst also developing our outreach services to children and young people on the edge of care. Therefore we are now looking to recruit workers who are attracted to a role which will include both working within a children’s home setting and offering outreach support to children in the community. We are excited to announce the opening of a new home in Old Windsor, offering a range of exciting opportunities to join our team. Come and be part of our pioneering residential and edge of care outreach service which will involve working across different sites including Old Windsor, Teddington and by 2026, Surbiton. You’ll be working alongside experienced professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality care and keeping children within their families wherever possible. There will be opportunities for growth and development within this team whilst contributing to our ongoing work supporting children and families.
About the role
The Therapeutic Intervention Worker will provide day to day care of children and young people within a family based environment that promotes positive attachments and relationships.
– You will work alongside the wider framework of professionals and families in order to understand a child’s life experience and respond and act in ways that promote a child’s opportunities and potential.
– Work directly with children and young people.
– Provide the best quality of personalised nurturing care that meets the needs of very vulnerable young people.
– Contribute to developing and maintaining a stimulating, nurturing home where children feel happy, cared for and safe.
– Provide 1-to-1 outreach support to children, young people and families in their own homes and in the community.
Qualifications● Diploma level 3 in caring for children and young people is desirable
● Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent.
Skills and experience
● Ability to engage appropriately with young people and develop rapport.
● Recognise signs of abuse and trauma and deal with safeguarding issues appropriately when they
arise.
● Able to recognise and deal with conflict and challenging behaviours and situations with young
people.
● Able to form and sustain positive and professional working relationships.
● An understanding of the social, emotional, educational, cultural, religious and recreational needs
of young people.
● Experience of keeping and maintaining records (in accordance with local policy) and producing
accurate reports, presentations, and written updates to a range of stakeholders (which may
include families, children or young people).
● Able to constructively engage with a wide network of professionals.
● Able and willing to undertake all tasks associated with parenting a young person and able to
demonstrate good parenting skills.

● Able to meet the requirement of working within the home over a 24hr shift to include a sleep induty, weekend and bank holiday working including Christmas, New Year and Easter.
