About the role

In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping and delivering our financial ambitions within the UK Technology sector. Our strategy is designed to differentiate us for both Brokers and Customers by deepening our appetite and expanding product density to exceed financial targets.

You will be responsible for raising the profile of our sector capability both regionally and nationally. This includes leading sector trading and underwriting activity within your region (London), as well as supporting national initiatives where needed. Beyond trading, you’ll act as an advocate and educator, helping brokers better understand our offering while guiding wider teams to identify and capitalise on tactical trading opportunities across the Technology sector.

What you’ll be doing

• Operate as a technology sector specialist for the relevant sector within your region and in some cases nationally, working with relevant brokers

• Build and execute the relevant technology sector strategy plan for your region

• Identify the right brokers to work with to develop new opportunities in the technology sector which significantly contribute to the UK plan, building effective relationships to ensure delivery against the opportunity

• Act as a referral point for larger and more complex NB opportunities, in the technology sector, including portfolio opportunities, both for your region and nationally to support the UK sector performance as required. You may also act as a referral point within the region for large, complex risks within your skillset

• Referral point for the most complex renewals in the technology sector both for your region and nationally to support the UK sector performance as required

• Own and trade the largest and most complex risks for the technology sector within the region and in some cases nationally to deliver growth

• Help execute and deliver pipeline opportunities – working to support the wider regional team(s) and relevant broker owners

• Key broker engagement, including attendance at QBR and Broker strategy meetings - directed only to the right brokers and opportunities

• Coach and develop underwriter capability across your sector

• Support the technical underwriting teams on development of technology sector products, wordings, appetite and proposition

• Attend key broker events e.g. Broker Summit, BIBA and Broker Sector workshops as a sector specialist to build the profile of the technology sector

• Support the marketing team by contributing to key sector collateral

• Support the wider specialist sector team by sharing knowledge and best practice

Our must-haves:

• Good experience performing at a senior underwriter level

• A strong track record trading with brokers to deliver growth

• A strong track record in making sound underwriting decisions, driving top and bottom-line growth

• A deep understanding of the technology sector

• Strong communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills with demonstrable ability to effectively influence key stakeholders

• Demonstrates a hunger for winning business

• Able to make intelligent and innovative business decisions

• An appreciation and understanding of legal and regulatory guidelines.

• Ideally ACII qualified or exempt through relevant experience as defined by the FCA
