Remembrance Officer

Royal British Legion
London

About The Role

Remembrance is at the heart of The Royal British Legion's work, and this is an opportunity to play a key role in how it is brought to life for audiences across the UK. As Remembrance Officer, you'll help shape the content, exhibitions and outreach activity that sit behind our Remembrance programme, finding fresh and engaging ways to connect people with the experiences of the Armed Forces community, past and present. You'll work across a wide range of projects, from developing content and supporting exhibitions to delivering outreach activity to encourage engagement and participation in Remembrance, both digitally and physically.

Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life.

We're looking for someone who enjoys taking an idea and turning it into something people can see, experience and engage with. You'll be comfortable working with a broad mix of people, from colleagues across The Royal British Legion to external partners, suppliers, organisations and members of the Armed Forces community. You'll bring strong research, written and verbal communication skills, an eye for detail and the confidence to work with information from different sources, while understanding the importance of getting the story 100% right. Just as importantly, you'll be someone who can build good relationships, manage competing priorities and keep projects moving, even when there are lots of moving parts.

This is a varied role for someone who wants to be closely involved in the planning and delivery of a high-profile Remembrance programme. You'll project lead your workstreams, from exhibitions and outreach programmes to our annual conference representation activity, while helping to develop new ideas and build on what we already do. You'll need experience of project delivery, stakeholder and partnership working, research and evaluation, with the organisation and commercial awareness to manage budgets and suppliers effectively. If you're a strong communicator who can combine creativity with careful planning and delivery, and you want to work on a programme with a national reach and a strong connection to the Armed Forces community, we'd like to hear from you.

You will be contracted to our Haig House hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.

Employee benefits include -

- 28 day's paid holiday (plus bank holidays) increasing with service, with optional annual leave purchase scheme of up to 5 working days
- Enhanced paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave
- Generous pension scheme with employer contributions ranging from 6% to 14%, depending on length of service
- Range of flexible working options may be available, depending on your role
- Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential counselling, financial and legal advice
- Range of courses delivered by learning specialists to support your development goals and objectives
- Opportunities to volunteer
- Travel loans, Cycle to Work, and more!

For more detailed information about the role, please see the Job Description attached to our direct advert. Our teams take a personalised approach to shortlisting, which is carried out without the use of AI and is based on the evidence provided in your application against the essential and desirable criteria in the Person Specification.

RBL is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation, reflecting the diversity of the armed forces community and of wider society. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and personal characteristics.

As part of our commitment to inclusion, we offer interview schemes for candidates who declare an Armed Forces connection and/or a disability.
