Quant Capital is urgently looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer. We are partnering on this search with our client, a long-established and successful quantitative hedge fund based in the heart of London. This role is ideal for senior infrastructure engineers who enjoy ownership, want to shape an evolving IT landscape, and thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced trading environment. You’ll work directly with senior leadership and technical peers in a collaborative, no-silos culture where your ideas and contributions will be taken seriously.
The role will involve:
• Taking ownership of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and Intune
• Managing both on-prem and cloud-based directory services (Active Directory and Entra ID)
• Providing high-quality IT support to a small team (~20 users), including traders and quants
• Driving automation through PowerShell scripting and other tools
• Managing the firm’s Azure environment and contributing to infrastructure-as-code projects using Terraform
• Supporting Windows desktop and server environments in a highly available setting
• Define and deploy Azure and wider infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, primarily Terraform
• Manage Git repositories for infrastructure code, including branching strategy, pull request review, and
version control of configuration
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and modules for administration, build standardisation,
configuration management, and operational tasks
• Build automation and pipelines to reduce manual change, eliminate configuration drift, and improve auditability
Desired Experience
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in an infrastructure engineering role, ideally in a small team
• Proven track record of owning and managing IT projects from initiation to delivery, including planning, prioritisation, stakeholder management, and risk management
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory and hybrid identity (Entra ID)
• Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Defender, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills, including automating administration across Active Directory,
• Microsoft 365, and Azure
• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform, and Git-based repository management (branching, pull requests, code review)
• Working knowledge of Azure infrastructure services
• Experience with networking (switching, firewalls) and storage/NAS
• Experience with backup, recovery, and DR solutions
• Experience with endpoint security tooling (XDR/EDR/AV) and email security
• Background in financial services, trading, or other low-latency, high-availability environments(consultant / MSP included
