We are seeking a passionate, dedicated and experienced SENCo to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Richmond, starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the school’s SEND provision, working closely with teachers, support staff, families and external professionals to ensure children receive the appropriate support to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The role will involve:

• Leading and coordinating the school’s SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice and school policies.

• Working closely with class teachers to identify pupils with additional needs and ensure appropriate provision, interventions and support are put in place.

• Monitoring and evaluating the progress of pupils with SEND, using assessment information to identify priorities and improve outcomes.

• Supporting staff with effective inclusive and adaptive teaching strategies across the primary age range.

• Coordinating EHCP processes, reviews, Individual Support Plans and other appropriate SEND documentation.

• Working collaboratively with parents and carers, providing clear communication and ensuring they are actively involved in supporting their child’s development.

• Liaising with external professionals, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and local authority services.

• Supporting the identification and assessment of pupils with a range of additional needs, including communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health, and sensory or physical needs.

• Contributing to safeguarding and ensuring the wellbeing and individual needs of vulnerable pupils remain central to school practice.

• Supporting the development of SEND-related policies, procedures and staff training.

• Maintaining accurate SEND records and ensuring appropriate use of available resources and funding.

• Contributing to whole-school improvement and promoting a positive, inclusive culture where every pupil is valued.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant experience working within a primary school setting.

• Has experience of supporting pupils with SEND and a strong understanding of inclusive education and the SEND Code of Practice.

• Has excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate effective provision across the school.

• Can support and challenge colleagues positively, developing staff confidence in adaptive teaching and SEND provision.

• Has strong knowledge of assessment, pupil progress and strategies for supporting children with a range of additional needs.

• Builds positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues and external agencies.

• Has excellent safeguarding awareness and a strong commitment to pupil wellbeing.

• Is approachable, reflective and solution-focused, with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children with SEND.

• Is able to work effectively as part of a supportive and collaborative senior leadership team.

• Has a positive, flexible approach and is committed to continuous professional development.
