  • Analyze NWP, ensemble, subseasonal, seasonal, and emerging AI-based weather models to identify trading opportunities and risks.
  • Develop proprietary weather insights beyond third-party vendor forecasts.
  • Translate meteorological views into forecast datasets used in fundamental, stack, demand, renewable generation, and market pricing models.
  • Build and maintain visualization tools, dashboards, and automated weather analytics workflows.
  • Support integration of weather data into trading and analytical platforms, including sensitivity and risk analysis.
  • Continuously monitor forecast performance and improve weather, demand, and renewable generation forecasting methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with traders, quantitative analysts, data scientists, and software developers to advance trading analytics capabilities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external weather vendors and assess forecast strengths, weaknesses, and market implications.
  • Stay at the forefront of developments in meteorology, statistics, machine learning, and forecasting technology to create competitive advantage.

What you bring

  • Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Significant experience supporting European gas and power trading or energy markets.
  • Strong understanding of European weather drivers, renewable generation impacts, and energy demand forecasting.
  • Experience interpreting deterministic, ensemble, subseasonal, and AI-based weather models.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities with the ability to work alongside model developers and quantitative teams.
  • Programming experience in Python and familiarity with modern data analytics tools.
  • Experience handling large meteorological datasets and developing automated forecasting workflows.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex meteorological concepts in commercial terms
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Curious, innovative, and continuously seeking improved analytical approaches.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with global, multicultural teams.
  • Passion for energy markets and building industry-leading trading capabilities.
  • Ability to build credibility with traders and effectively communicate conviction in weather-driven market views, influencing risk deployment decisions when supported by robust meteorological analysis.
