Clinical Nurse Specialist - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

King's Maxillofacial Team are looking for an experienced Maxillofacial nurse to work in this area. The role will involve utilising your knowledge and skills to develop a specialist nursing role for the care group. You will be working alongside the multi-professional team with patients at the centre of all you do.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with excellent clinical, communication and teaching skills, who will lead quality and safe care while implementing new ways of working to support our patients.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of safe and effective care. They will develop speciality nursing expertise and improve the quality of care.
- To deliver and promote high quality evidence based care to maxillofacial patients, within the outpatient and in patient setting.
- To be an autonomous practitioner with the ability to manage, organise and evaluate own workload and clinics.
- To undertake pre-operative and post-operative assessment, including clinical examination and history taking, cannulation, phlebotomy and initiate treatment and investigations as applicable and as per protocol.
- To work towards prescribing standard drugs according to Trust Policy
- To be responsible for reviewing, auditing and improving the quality of care delivered.
- To provide clinical and professional leadership and expertise in maxillofacial nursing.
- To co-ordinate and streamline the provision of services for patients throughout their treatment ensuring continuity of care.
- To co-ordinate repatriation/discharge of patients to other health care institutions as necessary.
- To act as a resource point of contact for maxillofacial patients and their families.
- To liaise effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- To carry out administrative duties to facilitate service provision and processes.
To participate in the maxillofacial and Trauma multi-disciplinary meetings, and support junior doctors in the clinical environment as required
