An ambitious, forward-thinking secondary school and Sixth Form in the East London Borough of Redbridge is looking for an expressive, technically skilled, and visionary Teacher of Music to join their thriving Creative & Performing Arts faculty starting in January . This is a prime opportunity for a dynamic musical educator, whether an experienced teacher seeking a collaborative department or a dedicated Early Career Teacher (ECT), to cultivate performance confidence, music technology skills, and artistic excellence across an eager student body.
About the Role
As a Teacher of Music, you will inspire pupils to discover their musical voice across acoustic performance, classical composition, and modern music production. Joining the department for the spring term, you will deliver engaging practical workshops and rigorous theoretical lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Music / Vocational Music), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Music / Music Technology), taking a central role in driving the school's vibrant extra-curricular musical life.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, practical, and academically rigorous Music lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 covering instrumental performance, musicology, composition, and audio engineering.
Prepare GCSE, A-Level, and Vocational Music candidates thoroughly for internal assessments and external examinations through structured coursework moderation and diagnostic coaching.
Direct and rehearse school ensembles, choirs, bands, and orchestra groups, coordinating major school productions, seasonal showcases, and regional music festivals.
Manage and liaise with visiting peripatetic instrumental and vocal tutors to foster maximum participation across all year groups and abilities.
Track and evaluate student progress, scaffolding foundational skills for developing musicians while stretching gifted pupils toward conservatoire and university pathways.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Music, Music Performance, Composition, Sound Engineering, or a related discipline (proficiency in piano, keyboard, or vocal coaching is highly advantageous).
Demonstrated experience or strong capability delivering high-quality Music instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level/BTEC experience preferred).
Solid knowledge of national examination board specifications (e.g., Eduqas, OCR, Edexcel, AQA) and proficiency with classroom DAWs and notation software.
Excellent musicality, strong classroom management, active ensemble leadership skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for performing arts.
