Mechanical & Electrical Engineer

Central London | 40 Hours per Week | 50,000 - 60,000 per annum, depending on experience

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Engineer to join our team as the dedicated resident engineer on a flagship Central London contract.

This is a resident role where you'll take ownership of the building's critical engineering systems, ensuring a safe, compliant and exceptional environment for our client and building users. You'll be the first point of contact for all M&E matters, building strong relationships with stakeholders while delivering both planned and reactive maintenance to the highest standards.

If you're a hands-on engineer who enjoys autonomy, problem-solving and taking pride in a building's performance, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical systems across the site.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and repair faults across electrical, HVAC, lighting, power, water and building services systems.
  • Monitor plant performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and compliance.
  • Escort and manage specialist subcontractors carrying out maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain all statutory compliance records, maintenance documentation and asset information.
  • Build strong working relationships with the client, acting as a trusted technical advisor on site.
  • Support the delivery of minor project works, upgrades and installations.
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with current health & safety legislation.

About You

  • Qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering through a recognised apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working within commercial buildings, facilities management or building services environments.
  • Strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical building systems.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience delivering both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Confident working independently and managing your own workload.
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • 18th Edition qualification would be advantageous for electrically biased candidates.
