A Hands-On Caretaker Opportunity at a South London School 🛠️
Location: Lambeth, South London
Start: ASAP
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Salary: £30,841 per annum
A school in Lambeth is looking for a dependable Caretaker to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment across its site. You'll work closely with the school office and leadership team to make sure the premises are ready for the school day and any activities taking place outside normal lessons.
The Role
Carrying out daily checks of buildings, grounds and access points.
Opening and securing the site as required.
Undertaking basic DIY, repairs and general maintenance.
Identifying hazards and reporting faults or damage promptly.
Keeping outdoor areas, entrances and pathways tidy.
Assisting with furniture moves and classroom or hall setups.
Supporting contractors and monitoring work on site.
Following health and safety, fire safety and safeguarding procedures.
About You
We're looking for someone practical, organised and trustworthy who can take responsibility for routine tasks while recognising when specialist support is needed.
Previous caretaking, handyperson or facilities experience is essential. Experience in a school or another public-facing environment would be an advantage, alongside an understanding of safe working practices and site security.
The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
