The Role
We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Compliance to lead the Compliance function and help shape the next stage of our client’s growth.
This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for building and developing a compliance function that supports the mission and ensures alignment with FCA, PRA, Consumer Duty, SM&CR , and wider regulatory frameworks.
You’ll work closely with the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, senior leadership, and the Board to ensure the compliance strategy enables business innovation while safeguarding customers and maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain a robust Compliance Framework aligned with FCA and other regulatory standards.
- Lead regulatory oversight and horizon scanning to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Deliver compliance assurance, monitoring, and reporting to senior stakeholders and committees.
- Drive a strong compliance culture across the business, embedding awareness and accountability at every level.
- Lead engagement with regulators, ensuring transparency and effective issue management.
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing compliance team aligned to the firm’s scale and ambition.
What We’re Looking For
Experience and Expertise
- Extensive compliance leadership experience in the insurance sector (home or personal lines preferred).
- Deep understanding of FCA/PRA regulations , Consumer Duty , SM&CR , financial promotions , and financial crime .
- Proven track record in delivering compliance programmes, monitoring plans, and thematic reviews.
- Experience engaging with regulators and managing Skilled Person (s166) reviews.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Leadership
- Inspirational people leader — able to build, motivate, and mentor high-performing teams.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and regulatory change in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Qualifications
- Professional compliance qualifications (e.g., ICA, CISI, ACII) preferred.
- Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance frameworks.
- Awareness of regulatory implications of AI and machine learning is a plus.
